Obituary for Robert Walter Engelholm, Jr.

Robert Engelholm was born on February 6, 1929 to Robert C. Engelholm Sr. and Cecelia Janosky in Bellville, Texas.

He attended school in Bellville and graduated from Bellville High School in 1948. Shortly thereafter he enlisted in the United States Army, where he served in the Korean War from 1951-1953. Following the war he became part of the Army Reserve from February 6, 1953-November 7, 1956.

On August 28, 1954 Robert married Elizabeth Agnes Orsak in Bellville. They were married for 64 years this past August. They loved each other dearly and showed us all the meaning of unconditional love. Their son Ronnie Engelholm was born on January 21, 1955. Their daughter Esther Sue Engelholm was born on September 23, 1957.

Robert took pride and joy in everything he did. He loved his job at San Bernard where he worked for many years. When he retired he spent his time keeping busy and doing the things he loved. He was proud in his ability to play horseshoes. He didn’t smile much but always did when they won. He treasured his lifelong horseshoe partner, Max Fahrenthold. They are probably playing together every day. He spent many hours making the perfect garden. Both Robert and Liz loved the homegrown vegetables from the garden. He loved to go deer hunting and fishing. He also loved working bees and removing them from unwanted places. He took pride in selling his own honey he made from the bees. Robert was dedicated to his cows and spent countless hours taking care of them. While he was living at home he would love to have his coffee while watching The Price is Right. Robert and Liz spent evenings watching the Astros or other sports teams. When not at home or enjoying his other hobbies he loved to play dominoes with his friends. He treasured many people but two special ladies that held a place in his heart where Barbara Harris and Pam Reese. They took care of him his last few months at home. He was sometimes hard to deal with but they had a special understanding of each other.
He was a proud member of the VFW and American Legion.
Robert passed away on June 12, 2019 at 12:10am at Woodridge Nursing Home at the age of 90.
He is survived by his sister Bernice Taska, DAUGHTER, Esther and husband Karl Mullineaux, GRANDDAUGHTERS, Jamie and husband Josh Falke, Ashley and husband Justin Beckendorff, GREAT GRAND CHILDREN, Kylan and Sean Falke and Emma, Faith and Hunter Beckendorff, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Elizabeth, brothers Gilbert and James and son, Ronnie.
Words cannot express how much we will miss you Robert, Dad, and or Grandpa. We know will see you again one day. You are finally where you want to be with Granny (give her a big hug for us). Until then keep smiling and remember how much we love you. We will see you on the outskirts of Heaven!!
