Obituary for Clarence Earl Johnson

Clarence Earl Johnson, Sr. was one of five children born to Martha Bell Sweet on March 8, 1953. His father was Earnest Jewel Johnson. He and his siblings grew up in Katy, Texas on Danover Street. Clarence attended public school in Fort Bend County and graduated from Katy High School in the class of 1971. He was an avid basketball player in high school proudly wearing the number 22. Clarence professed his faith in Jesus Christ and joined Historic Allen Chapel AME Church where Clarence was a dedicated member. At Allen Chapel, he served faithfully in as an usher, trustee, and in the male choir.

Clarence met and shared the last 14 years of his earthly life with the love of his life, Peggy Madison. After 2 years of dating, the couple married on Valentine’s Day in 2007. The couple have five adopted children, Sierra, Aja, Tykel, Curtis, and Corey.

Clarence loved life and lived it to the fullest through simple pleasures; serving God, listening to music, and fellowshipping with family and friends.

He worked for Longwood Elastomers, Inc. a manufacture in Brenham, Texas for over ten years. Clarence was a stellar employee winning the Perfect Attendance Award in 2014 and Employee of the Month in 2015.

On Monday morning, February 18, 2019, Clarence Earl Johnson, Sr. awakened in the arms of his Father in Heaven to be forever with his parents Martha Bell Sweet and Clarence Johnson, Sr., and brother Martin Dean Tate who preceded him in their transitions.
