On January 29, 1928, Ms. Annie Bell Scranton was born in Simonton, Texas to the late Annie Elizabeth and James Porter. She graduated from Austin County High School. She was also known as Ms. Bell, Mama Bell, Annie Bell, Madear, and Sadie.

No job was too high or two low for Madear, she used her healing hands to help patients as she worked as a nursing assistant at the San Antonio State Hospital, but her main mission was in the church.

As a mother of the church and president of the Jr. Mission, she traveled to various churches and had several speaking engagements for people of different ages and nationality . Her end purpose was to serve the Lord Jesus Christ and tell others about his wonderful Grace to the very end of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Elizabeth Anderson and James Porter, one sister; Dorothy Jackson, and two brothers; Johnny King and Clarence Porter, granddaughter; Lovera Campbell and long life friend Mrs. Maggie Smith.

She leaves to cherish her life and many fond memories; one sister; Irma Cox, four sons; Lawerence Curtis Campbell Jr., (Myrtle), Otis Herman Scranton Jr., (Cynthia), Elbert Brown Scranton (Cherry), Charles E.
