Life Legacy


Ms. Roy Lane was born Dec. 14, 1921, to Mr. Will and Georgia Josey Lane. She attended Richard San Felipe School in San Felipe, Texas.

Roy confessed her belief in Christ and joined Downey Chapel UM Church where she worked as a Sunday school teacher and was the church cook for many years.
Roy was united in Holy Matrimony to O.Z. Smith. Roy worked as a domestic help in Austin County. Ms. Lane loved to cook for her family and friends with good old home cooked meals. She had a smile for every one she met. She never met a stranger.

Roy Lane was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, November 19, 2009.

She is preceded in death by her husband, O.Z. Smith, parents, Will and Georgia Josey Lane, maternal grandparents, Haywood and Nettie Josey, her paternal grandparents, brothers, L.B. Lane, Farrell Lane, Sr., Harold Lane, and sister Ada Marie Liston.

Ms. Roy Lane leaves to cherish her loving memories her loving and caring son. Joseph Lee Lane (Josephine), of Spanaway, WA, grandchildren, Jenifer Torrence (Frank) of Dallas, TX, Julianna Mack (Darnel) of Tacoma, WA, Jessica Watson (Marlin) of Spanaway, WA, and Joseph K. Lane Jr. of Spanaway, WA, great grandchildren, Malcolm Lane. Serenidy Lane, Marlin Watson Jr., Julianna and Majari Mallory, Deontre Waston, Julien and Isaac Torrence, Julius Mack, and Michael Fiivae, sister, Carrie Doris Evans, and two Special Nieces, Dr. Edith Lane Clark and Lena Lane Newsome, of Houston, TX, along with a host of nieces, nephews , other relatives, and friends.

Funeral Service was held on Saturday, November 28, 2009, at Downey Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church in San Felipe, Texas, with Rev. Steffon Arrington officiating.

Active Pallbearers were Roy Manley, Robert Josey, Volly Semore, Eddie Basey, Lawrence Wilson, Jr., and Levester Hall.

Honorary Pallbearers were Farrell Lane, Jr., Joseph Lane, Jr. Adolph Peugh, Brandon Peugh, Elzray Peugh, Jason, Peugh, and Teaphus Peugh, Jr.

Interment followed to San Felipe Community Cemetery in San Felipe, Texas.
