Biography

Ethel Lee Madison, who passed this life at Memorial Hermann Hospital on Tuesday, November 3, 2009, was born to the late Willie McDade and Roberta McDade on December 17, 1929 in Bellville, Texas. She was the oldest of six children.

Mrs. Madison’s education began in elementary school in Waco, Texas and she graduated from Waco High School at the age of 17. She then entered Paul Quinn College in Dallas where she studied nursing for two years.

She worked at Brenham State Home and School for 20 years supervising mentally challenged children before retiring in 1985 and continued her career in Home Health Care.

She was married to the late Robert L. Madison, Sr. of Raccoon Bend, Texas on June 17, 1951.

Mrs. Madison is survived by one sister-Narcisse Winters of Houston, Texas; three daughters and four sons- Peggy Johnson of Bellville, Texas, Vickie Madison, Barbara Rideout, both of Houston, Texas; Larry Madison of New Ulm, Texas, Ricky Madison of Conroe, Texas, Ronnie Madison, Terry Madison and James Legan all of Houston, Texas; 32 grandchildren and 37 great grandchildren of Bellville, New Ulm and Houston, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her mother and father- Robeta and Willie McDade; one sister and three brothers-Barbara Jean Bailey, Willie McDade, Samuel McDade, and Thomas McDade; one daughter and one son- Linda Marie Jasmine and Robert Louis Madison, Jr.

Funeral service was held on Saturday, November 7, 2009 at Historic Allen AME Church at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Dr. William Quickley officiating.

Active Pallbearers were Dwight Winters, Elisha Madison, Shakespeare Jasmine, Sr., Shakespeare Jasmine, Jr., Clarence Johnson, and Jerry Jackson.

Honorary Pallbearers were Larry Madison, Ronnie Madison, Ricky Madison, Terry Madison, Robert Louis Madison, James Legan, Carl Rideout, and Deacons& Trustees of Historic Allen Chapel AME Church.

Interment followed at Jefferson Cemetery in Bellville, Texas.
