Biography

Wilma Delores Phillips was born to Ernest Turner and Bettye Anne Stephens on October 15, 1954 in Columbus, Colorado Countym Texas. She attneded Columbus public schools and graduated from Bellville High School in 1973. She married Anthony Phillips in 1976 and to this union one child was born. Delores worked as a housekeeper.laundry aide at Briarwood Manor Nursing Home in Bellville, Texas for 7 years.

She confessed Christ at an early age and was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Bellville, Texas under the leadership of Rev. Michael Barber.

Preceding her in death is her husband Antony.

She leaves to cherish her memories: on daughter, Marcella Lynn Stephens, her mother, Bettye Anne Stepherns, both of Bellville, Texas; her father Ernest Turner of Houston, Texas, 7 granddaughters: Shundrika Davis of Sealy, Texas, Kianna, Brocquel, Summer, Faith, Mariezza, Broccisha Williams all of Houston, Texas; her aunts Mary Wilson and Wilma Hargrove all of Houston, along with a host of dear friends and many other relatives.

Funeral service was held Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 11:00 am at Historic Allen Chapel AME Church with Rev. J. R. Johnson officiating.

Active Pallbearers were Tommie Telford, Roy Waller, Jolly Johnson, Emmitt Burton, Melvin Randle, and William Hill.

Honorary Pallbearers were Michael Wilson, John Roman, Rev. Joseph Hargrove, Michael Cooper, Mark Samuels, and Timothy Samuels.

Interment followed to Willing Workers Cemetery in Columbus, Texas.
