Life Legacy


Mrs. Sadie Mae Houston was born to Mr. Leon and Isbella Bonner on October 8, 1918 in Nelsonville, Texas.

Sadie married Tommie Houston and to this union they had eight children. Mrs. Houston was affiliated wth Samuel Chapel AME, Grants Chapel AME, and Historic Allen AME Church where she served as Deaconess. For years Mrs. Sadie worked at Bellville General Hospital as a Cook until her retirement.

Mrs. Sadie Houston is preceded in death by her husband Tommie Houston, her parents, brothers, sisters, one daughter, three grandsons and one great grandson.

Sadie leaves to cherish her memories two loving daughters: Mrs. Robbie Lee Moore of Houston, Texas, and Ms. Alberta Broussard of Bellville, Texas. Also missing her will be her five loving sons: Mr. Tommie Houston, Jr. (Joyce) of Dallas, Texas, Mr. Wayne Houston, of Houston, Texas, Mr. Robert Houston, Mr. Charles Houston, and Mr. Willie Houston (Sue) all of Bellville, Texas. Along with 39 grandchildren, 60 great grandchildren,10 great great grand children and a host of nieces, nehews and friends, a special friend, and provider Mrs. Everlene Harris.

Funeral service was held Saturday, October 24, 2009 at 1:00 pm at Bellville High School with Rev. Dr. William Quickley officiating.

Active Pallbearers: Terrance Houston, Tony Ward, Ondre Green, Wilber Kesee, Jr., Robert Smith, Allen Cooper, Wayne Houston, Jr., Robert Kesee, Brandon Smith, and Marquel McMurry.

Honorary Pallbearers: Tommie Houston, Jr., Robert Houston, Wayne Houston, Sr., Charles Houston, and Willie Houston.

Interment followed to Buckhorn Cemetery in Bellville, Texas.
